Joint Tactical Consulting – Vehicle Containment Technique (VCT)

Course Overview:
Apprehending suspects in vehicles can be complex and many agencies lack the resources to handle it effectively. The Vehicle Containment Technique course equips officers, detectives, and tactical teams with strategies to safely apprehend dangerous suspects, enhancing safety for both officers and civilians during these critical situations.

The Vehicle Containment Technique was developed by a Joint Tactical Consulting Instructor assigned to the U.S. Marshals, who actively employ these tactics in the field. When traditional high-risk stops, open-air arrests, or search warrants are not feasible, the VCT offers a de-escalation strategy for dealing with suspects known to flee or exhibit violent behavior. Several major West Coast law enforcement agencies have successfully adopted the VCT model to address tactical challenges involving vehicles.

Join Joint Tactical Consulting for a two-day course on vehicle containment techniques, where you’ll learn essential skills for pre-planning and executing successful vehicle containment operations. This hands-on course covers a wide range of vehicle dynamics and small team skills. The program includes engaging case studies and live demonstrations utilizing live vehicles, allowing students to practice the techniques firsthand under expert guidance. You'll receive personalized instruction to enhance your proficiency and confidence in vehicle containment tactics.

*** The VCT Course on September 8-10, 2025 will be a three-day course with Covert Physical Surveillance added to the curriculum.***
